| Mission for Marrow Drive |

Hey guys,
a friend of mine was diagnosed with Leukemia in November 2007 and needs a bone marrow transplant. She hasn't been able to find a donor match so in April, during our college's Alumni Weekend, Amanda (![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif?v=92.1) lilmissbri) and I are going to run a bone marrow drive in hopes of finding her (and others like her) a donor match.
Each test done during the drive costs $52. The National Marrow Donor Program will cover half the costs, but we have to raise the money for the rest. That's where our friends, family, and lurking stalkers *g* come in. We set up a paypal account to collect donations. If you have the means please click on the link below and help us with this cause. Every little bit counts so even if you can only donate a dollar it will be appreciated.
And if anybody does donate let me know and I'll make you a nifty banner to let the world know you helped. :D

Dear Yuletide Writer who has the task of coming up with something brilliant (as I’m sure you will) from all the rambling that I tend to do:
I know this is coming pretty late as we just got our assignments, but hopefully you will still check it out. My journal has recently been friends-locked but I think a lot of the old stuff is still open to the public. (Unless you are my friend and I’m pretty easy going when it comes to that. I tend to friend almost anybody who friends me). I have a fiction journal at dia_fiction that you are welcome to read at your own risk and if you’d like to get a feel of what kind of fanfiction I read check out my memories. I have obsseive compulsively ordered and arranged many of my fave fics so they are easy to find and read.
There are a few things I generally look for in fics. I am not generally interested in slash (although there are a few specific pairings I enjoy) and I mostly like authors to keep canon in mind even if they don’t adhere to it. I love character studies, ‘five things’ fics and a well-written crossover is one of my favorite types of fic to read. If I’m in the mood I enjoy a good fluff piece, but most of my favorite fics are a bit darker.
Thank you soooo much in advance. I can’t wait to read whatever you come up with. I’m sure it’s going to rock! Good luck and have fun. :D |

| This weekend and stuff |

1. Numbered post b/c they're just easier.
2. Skynyrd/BOC KICKED ASS!!! Seriously freakin' awesome! I heard Godzilla live. How bad ass is that? And I got a t-shirt that says more cowbell. LOL
3. We finally have internet! (as you can see) and I'm loving it. No cable yet.
4. we also had that gas co. here on Friday and I finally got to take a hot shower. YAY! Unfortunately, our stove is shot so we don't have a stove, but the landlord is calling someone in to look at it and see if it's worth saving or not. We'll probably be getting a new one.
5. I had a british guy hit on me on Friday. I love that accent. ;)

Okay, so first I have to say a belated happy b-day to _m3. Sorry about the slowness, but I've been moving.

Also, I have decided that Dante had no idea what he was talking about when he was describing the 7th circle of hell. Let me be Cassius any day as long as I don't have to move my shit ever again and of course I'm still not done. *rolls eyes*
So, I'm now living at my new place sans gas (which means no hot water) b/c of the holiday weekend and they couldn't get out there before hand. What a pain in the ass. Also, I have no cable and no internet so I'm down at the coffee shop usuing there internet. BTW does anyone no if Shadyside is fios-ready? I tried looking it up on their website, but it keeps telling me they need the phone number that is apparently already hooked-up in my apartment. I figure the dumb (but cute) frat boys that lived there before forgot to turn there phone off.
Oh, and to be totally sporadic, does anyone want to go to D.C. next weekend? Amanda wants me to go down for her b-day, but I don't have a car or the money for a plane ticket right now, so if anyone is up for a road trip (well, if 4 hours is considered a road trip) let me know.
Okay, I believe that's it for now. Back to trying to navigate the port authority website so I can figure out where the hell to catch my bus tomorrow. TTYL |

| Apartment search is over |

So I should probably mention that my rental application has been approved (duh) and i'm signing a lease w/ Kae for an apartment in Shadyside...the cheapest apartment in Shadyside EVER! It's 1/2 from the hospital and like 1 block from busway so it's in a great spot. The bedrooms are a little small and kitchen is tiny, but the bedroom is huuuge and the bathroom's pretty big. It will take some planning to get it to flow right, but it should be good for the next year at least.
I'm not sure when I'm gonna move in though. The last tenants are out by Monday, so the apartment will probably be available by the end of the week (if they are at all quick w/ cleaning and damages), but Saturday is Kennywood day at work so i can't move in then. I might move some stuff Friday night and do a lot on Sunday. IDK we'll see. I guess I better start packing.
Oh, and if the last tenant wants to stick around he can defintely live in my room...HOT!!!!! |

I so love when my 27 year old brother comes stumbling into the house at 3am, knocks all my shoes off the shoe rack I have hanging over my door, and then collapses in the middle of my bed and passes out on top of my winnie the pooh. *rolls eyes* |

See, I knew that there were crazy people out there. I just never expected to meet one...or work with one as the case may be. Turns out that one of the women at work is one of those people that thinks Harry Potter is evil and leads kids into satanism and the occult. It really threw me off, b/c I had no idea. I mean I know logically the crazy ones look just like everyone else, but I guess I always thought I'd be able to tell (yes, sometimes I do live in a fantasy world where the crazies go around talking to themselves and the bad guys have horns). It was just very very disconcerting. one moment we're having a normal conversation and the next she's talking about the evils of Harry Potter. How do people like that even get up enough brain power to function? |
